Newsies At The Tonys

So last night when Alan Menken won the Tony for Best score for Newsies and thanked the “generation of kids who adopted the movie and insisted it be brought to the stage,” I felt a little like I got a personal “Thank You” at the Tony Awards.

The Newsies fandom isn’t being as sore as everyone makes us out to be.
We are NOT saying Once is bad: we’re saying Newsies has worked harder and deserves it more. We say Once is wonderful, but Newsies is phenomenal. I’ve probably heard only two or three comments about Once being less than satisfactory. None of which were tagged in the “Once” tag. We’re in a rage, sure,...

Lemme just say, I haven’t seen anyone bashing Once since the award show ended.
So will you all, please stop telling the fans of Newsies to “calm down”?
Most everyone is too upset/angry/whatever to talk about it. So why don’t you guys back off as well?

Okay, okay, I’m done raging for the moment.
And I’d like to say congratulations to Alan Menken, for getting vindication after twenty years. He was nominated for and won a Razzie for one of the songs in the movie (High Times, Hard Times). Which had to have hurt. And tonight, he won Best Score at the Tony Awards for the stage adaptation of that movie.
So congrats to Alan Menken.

I’m sure Matthew Morrison’s a nice guy and all, but I just can’t look at him without thinking “Will Schuester” and subsequently vomiting.
I have the same problem, except instead of vomiting, I rage and yell.
